The Train in the Vain – Mary Katrantzou

FASHION NEWS SPECIAL FEATURE
Mary Katrantzou seems to be one of the hottest names when it comes to fashion industry. Her name is often heard in a lot of fashion news, especially for the people in London. This is all probably due to the fact that the young Greek lady is fond of making use of hyper size materials and has a sense of explosive colors. Born in Athens in the year 1983, Mary Katrantzou has obtained a great influence in the world of fashion despite her young age

Katrantzou has always been using print designs in such a brilliant way that she influences the modern fashion trends so heavily. This will especially be visible during the spring 2012 season with patchwork prints, dazzling hues, and bold arty floral effects becoming the biggest trends of all time. This is also the reason why her latest show in London that took place on September 20 quite a mega event.

In the event, it was possible to meet every remarkable buyer, critic and editor, all of whom have a great influence in the industry of fashion. These people are all very interested in having a look at what Katrantzou can offer at the previous Eurostar terminal located in the Waterloo Station.

The theme taken was abstract and volcanic images. The catwalk was divided by a field of carnations the length of a tennis court. Speaking of the prints that become the typical characteristic of Mary Katrantzou, it seems that she has little to no rivals. Even when it seems that she has influenced half or more of the fashion industry, her abilities is yet to be rivaled by any of her competitors. But that’s her style. The abstract ethnic smears, space nebulae and expressionist parts are all very seemingly intriguing even though, unfortunately, they may somehow feel rather powerful. In some cases, it seems that her colleagues have indeed surpassed her.

Also, it is true that her sense of color is unique. However, unfortunately, her cutting is not too well. As a matter of fact, a lot of her works are considered to be quite problematic. A lot of the clothes shown in the event have too many angles that are also very dangerous, it seems. A lot of people wonder if a woman will really be able to sit down while putting on a dress she has designed.

Another big idea of Mary Katrantzou when it comes to silhouette is to add a train on all sides. This way, the yards of fabric will loop off the back of the miniskirts, cocktail dresses and chiffon blouses. However, again, this may be an idea that does not suit others well.
